ESP Strategy Group

ESP Strategy Group

The ESP Strategy Group which is chaired by Simon Hewitt, principal at Dundee and Angus College drives forward the activity of the ESP strategy.

Working with us

A key function of ESP is to ensure that colleges sustain a demand-led approach by actively engaging with industry and employers to understand the future skills needs and implement effective solutions.

Positioned at the heart of Scotland’s skills infrastructure, ESP has a critical role in ensuring Scotland’s talent pool is developed sufficiently to support the identified expansion and replacement demand across our sectors.

Building on the success of earlier collaborations this framework seeks to further develop a joint approach across key areas.

Industry Programmes

ESP is committed to working with industry to ensure they fully deliver demand-led skills and education provision.  To ensure this happens, industry bodies are represented on all four of the themed groups including:

Additionally ESP is a member of the Scottish Renewables and RenewableUK and works closely with East Coast Renewables.

ESP is focussed on real actions with industry-led activity including:

  1. a partnership approach between Ayr, Carnegie and Dumfries & Galloway colleges in support of a Scottish Power Renewables initiative to develop the talent pool close to their wind farms.
  2. working with a major wind turbine manufacturer to investigate how Scotland’s colleges can support their business needs.
  3. in talks with a major engineering company to develop a bespoke training programme to meet an identified need within their company.
