Scotland's colleges – delivering skills for the energy, engineering and construction sectors

Automotive Training Network

Introduction

ESP now have an extended remit covering a number of emerging technologies and based on feedback from industry and members established an Automotive Training Network. The group met for the first time in 2016 to determine the priorities to take forward. These priorities resulted in partnership work with Transport Scotland and Energy Savings Trust to develop a work plan focussing on Low Carbon Transport and in particular Ultra Low Emission Vehicles.

A key area of development identified by the network has been MOT training for college staff which ESP has supported, with 6 staff receiving their MOT Nominated Testers Award.

Purpose

The purpose of this group is to bring engineering experts together to lead on change that will build up college capacity and capability in line with Scottish Funding Council and Skills Development Scotland’s strategic aims and current priorities.

Our Aim

Our aim is for Scotland to be at the forefront of skills development for the Automotive/Transport sector and to ensure the right skills are being developed at the right time to meet industry and colleges regional needs.
