ESP negotiates discount for member colleges for Wind Turbine Trainers

ESP member colleges including Inverness, Ayr, Carnegie, Dundee, Dumfries & Galloway and City of Glasgow colleges have been able to purchase key teaching equipment for wind technician training courses with the help of a discount price negotiated for member colleges by the Energy Skills Partnership.

ESP membership update

The Energy Skills Partnership is delighted to welcome West Lothian College and Perth College UHI as core members of the Partnership.

ESP supports college staff on Green Deal Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor Train-the-Trainer programme

Working with Magma Enterprises and Edinburgh College the Energy Skills Partnership has supported lecturing staff from eleven colleges across Scotland on an intense programme of train-the-trainer for Green Deal Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor City and Guilds certificates. This course was completed in June and hosted at Edinburgh College.

With Green Deal a key Government initiative this support along with exclusive access to teaching materials for ESP member colleges will increase Scotland’s colleges’ capability and capacity to deliver Green Deal Advisor and Domestic Energy Assessor courses.

Colleges Scotland have made a short film with past engineering students talking about their college experiences and how going to college has positively impacted on their lives. 


ESP Supporting New CPD Offering to Industry

In order to increase the energy skills provision to industry Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) are working in partnership with the Energy Technology Partnership (ETP) to support and promote a number of energy related CPD short courses being offered to industry across Scotland. Through working with industry bodies including Scottish Renewables and ESP have identified a number of CPD courses and is offering to either businesses or individuals 50% discount. Please visit our CPD page for further information and a list of courses currently being supported. Member colleges are invited to contact ESP if they have any further courses they wish to be considered for support.

Energy Skills Partnership and ScottishPower Renewables working in partnership

ScottishPower Renewables is to help fund courses at Dumfries and Galloway College and Ayr College that will allow students to gain industry recognised qualifications and help on their way to becoming wind turbine technicians. The company’s funding and support in-kind will lead to courses beginning in March 2013.

Building Capacity and Capability

ESP is supporting capability and capacity building across Scotland’s colleges to ensure colleges have staff with the skills and expertise to support learners and understand and respond to the needs of industry. A survey was recently undertaken to identify key staff needs and skill requirements within Scotland’s colleges to inform the delivery of a range of training and development courses/programmes.

New Membership Update

The ESP is delighted to welcome new members to the partnership – Coatbridge College and South Lanarkshire College have joined as part of the wider Lanarkshire Federation.
