Erasmus + Winds and Tides at Big Bang Scotland STEM Careers event

Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) have been working in partnership with France and Norway on a three year project to highlight careers in the wind and marine energy sector.

On 13 June 2017 535 young people from 37 schools across Scotland attended the Big Bang Scotland Fair at Perth College UHI’s Academy for Sport and Wellbeing hosted by ESP. The aim of the event was to inspire young people to consider a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related roles.

The Erasmus+ winds and Tides project was showcased at the event allowing students to find out more about the types of careers available in the wind and marine sector any the types of qualifications they will need to gain. Video blogs from student mobilities that took place as part of the project were showcased highlighting the types of training they might expect to experience in the wind and marine sector as well as showcasing student exchanges run as part of Erasmus+ projects.
The event was very well received by the students and organisations that attended the event from a wide variety of engineering and science sectors.

“It’s so important that this type of event happens to inspire the next generation of STEM students.” - Marine Technical
