Automotive Training Network

The Automotive Training Network was established at an initial meeting in April 2016. An action plan of priorities for the group of 13 colleges has been established with Hybrid training and MOT commercial opportunities high on the list.

As a result Hybrid training for college staff, at levels 2 & 3, was delivered in August followed by support from ESP for up to £1,000 for the purchase of Hybrid vehicles aimed at building capacity to deliver training across the network.
MOT training was identified as a key area for development by the Training Network with the aim of exploiting the commercial opportunities for colleges in this area due to changing legislation. A separate action plan is now in place for this activity with Glasgow Clyde college commissioned to deliver a training package and a Train-the-trainer CPD event.

West College Scotland have been successful in purchasing a Honda Civic Ima hybrid car with the support of ESP who contributed £1000 towards the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle will be used by the West College Scotland’s Automotive staff and will greatly impact and assist the ability to deliver and give the students access to a larger variety of Hybrid technologies.
