Meet Our Team

Jim - Director

Jim is a member of a wide range of government, industry and college sector groups and has been instrumental in establishing the group structures and training networks that underpin ESP.

An extensive skills career entering the college sector from industry before working with two Sector Skills Councils during which time he was also seconded into Scottish Government to develop their Renewable Energy Skills Framework for Action, is the Skills Lead for the Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC) and represents the college sector on the Scottish Climate Emergency Skills Action Plan Implementation Steering Group.

Jim is also supporting a number of strategic projects with Dundee and Angus College including a focus on Industry 4.0 and the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc Skills Academy.

Dougie is Sector Manager for Engineering and STEM at ESP. Prior to joining ESP Dougie was Head of projects at Fife College and covered aspects of the Director of Faculty role collaborating with Industry partners, government bodies and educational institutions on innovative projects. Combined with Dougie’s time at Edinburgh College, he has 14 years’ experience delivering and developing the curriculum in a wide range of disciplines supporting the Manufacturing, Energy and Renewables sectors.

Having previously worked extensively in Engineering, Dougie is passionate about career long professional learning and skills development required to meet Industry requirements and government objectives. He currently represents the College sector on the Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC) and leads on several of ESP’s Training Networks.

John is the Sector Manager for Construction at ESP. Prior to this John was the Assistant Head of School of Engineering & Sustainable Technologies at Carnegie College; he has 17 years’ experience within further education and has vast knowledge of the construction industry. John was responsible for setting up Carnegie College’s Sustainable Technology Centre increasing the demand in renewable and energy efficiency skills training. His previous experience also included a secondment with Napier University, as a Knowledge Exchange Business Development Advisor working with SME’s to drive forward their innovative ideas.

John currently sits on the Scottish Government Industry Leadership Group for Construction as well as leading on skills for the construction and emerging technology sectors in Scotland.

Rachel - Programme Manager-Engineering

Rachel Tulloch is Sector Manager for Energy Transition & Transport at ESP. Rachel’s experience in curriculum design and innovative short courses has led to the successful implementation of new curriculum and learning materials in advanced manufacture, hydrogen, wind and industrial automation during her time at ESP. 
 
Rachel leads on the design of several programmes aimed at energy transitioning and zero carbon transport within engineering sectors in alignment with the Climate Emergency Skills Action Plan. 

She represents the college sector on key discussions with Scottish Government around zero emission transport and hydrogen skills as well as leading on several of ESP’s Training Networks.

Juliet- Programme Manager - Construction

Juliet is Programme Manager for ESP with 20 years’ experience in further education. Juliet trained as an architect and after some time with Dunfermline District Council, she established her own architectural practice before moving into Telford College to teach in the Built Environment Department. Throughout her time in education, she progressed to become interim Head of Construction at Edinburgh College. She has a vast knowledge of curriculum development and design, quality improvement and student experience as well as project management.

At ESP Juliet works with all construction colleges to increase their capability and capacity to deliver the right skills to meet industry demand whilst aligning the need with the Scottish Governments priorities for a Just Transition to Net Zero.

Alex is a Project Administrator with ESP. Alex trained and qualified as a Graphic Designer before joining Clackmannanshire Council to work in Social Inclusion and Regeneration Partnerships for 10 years where he provided Administrative and Research duties for a wide range of projects and initiatives.

In 2013 Alex joined SEPA to support the National Operations Waste Unit and provided key administrative support to the team which led on waste management and regulations across all of Scotland.

He joined ESP in 2015 and provides support to the Engineering, Automotive and Hydrogen sectors as well as being the secretariat to the ESP Management Board and plays a key role in the marketing and promotion of ESP to Colleges’ and partners.

Cherry - Project Administrator

Cherry is a Project Administrator at ESP. She was studying HNC Administration & IT at Forth Valley College when she started a summer paid intern post for ESP and worked on data input for a cross sector project. Her contract was then extended and she became a full-time member of staff after she graduated from her HND Administration & IT course.

Cherry currently provides general administration duties for ESP along with providing administrative support to several of ESP’s Engineering training networks and Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC) Skills Lead Group. She also plays a key role in providing administration support to STEM’s skills-based project FIRST® LEGO® League.
